Chilkavarekalu playa
In today’s blog, I am going to share the recipe for the Chilkavarekalu playa. In north Karnataka, people also call it Challarikayi palya. It is power-packed with high protein and. healthy fibers in it. It is a very healthy and tasty side dish for Jowar roti, Chapati, or rice.It takes only 15 minutes to prepare it. Ingredients
1 tbsp Oil
2 tbsp Oil
1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds
3 to 4 Green chilies
4 to 5 curry leaves
1 small onion
1/4 tbsp Turmeric powder
1 tbsp Salt
1 &1/2 tbsp of Niger seeds powder
Instructions with Images
Wash the Chilkavarekalu with salt and water thrice.
Remove both edges of it
Now cut them into small pieces.
In a frying pan, add the pieces and add 1 tbsp Oil
Add 1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
add 1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds and let them splatter
Now, add 3 to 4 Green chilies cut into pieces
Now, add 4 to 5 curry leaves
And, add 1 small onion cut into small dice, and saute well.
Now add roasted Chilkavarekalu and mix everything well
Add 1/4 tbsp Turmeric powder
And add 1 tbsp Salt, according to taste
Mix everything well
Now add 1 &1/2 tbsp of Niger seeds powder
Mix well
Add little water and cook for 5 minutes.
Now the tasty Challarikayi palya is ready
