Avarekalu Akki Rotti

In today’s blog, I will share the recipe for Avarekalu Akki Rotti. When I moved to Bangalore I got to taste so many flavors of foods. I have had Akki rotti since childhood but I had never tasted Avarekalu Akki rotti. Avarekalu recipes are very famous in Bangalore and also Bangalore hosts Avarekalu Mela every year serving a variety of dishes made with Avarekalu. The first time I tasted Avarekalu Akki rotti in the Avarekalu mela I just loved it. I learned the recipe and gave it a try. Believe it tastes even more delicious when it’s homemade. I never miss preparing this rotti at least once a week during the Avarekalu season. Now, without any delay let’s jump into the recipe.

Ingredients 

1/2 cup of Grated carrot
1 small onion chopped into small pieces 
2 tbsp chopped Coriander leaves 
1 tbsp chopped Green chillies 
1/2 cup of Avarekalu 
1 and 1/2 cup of Rice flour 
1 tbsp Cumin seeds 
2 tbsp chopped curry leaves 
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste 
1 tbsp Salt as per taste

Instructions with Images 

In a bowl Add 1/2 cup of Grated carrot
Add 1 small onion chopped into small pieces 
Add 2 tbsp chopped Coriander leaves 
Next, add 2 tbsp chopped curry leaves 
Add 1 tbsp chopped Green chillies 
add 1/2 cup of Avarekalu 
Then, add 1 and 1/2 cups of Rice flour 
Add 1 tbsp Cumin seeds 
Add 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste 
Next, add 1 tbsp Salt as per taste
Now, add warm water and mix it gradually 
Add water until it reaches the consistency as shown in the image
leave it for 10 minutes.
Now, take a ball-sized dough
Spread it evenly on butter paper greased with some oil
Next, transfer it onto a hot tawa turning the butter paper upside down
Add some oil 
Close the lid for 2 minutes 
Once one side of roti is cooked well Turn it onto another side
Roast it on both sides well
Now, your tasty and healthy Avarekalu Akki rotti is ready.
