Masala jowar roti recipe
In today’s blog, I am going to share the Masala Jowar roti recipe…Jowar is one of the most consumed food grains in North Karnataka. People of North Karnataka can not live without Jowar based foods. The cool nature of Jowar helps people to keep themselves cool on hot sunny days. Usually, most people, especially farmers have Jowar roti with some vegetable and lentils/legumes/pulses curry for their morning breakfast. But, for the days when they feel the need for a change in their breakfast, they prepare Masala Jowar roti.
In this roti, Jowar roti is made using chopped veggies and some other flours. You can also call it Jolada thalipattu. It takes very minimal effort to prepare it.

Masala jowar roti recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup of water.
- 1 cup of Jowar flour.
- 2 tbsp Besan flour
- 1 cup of grated Cucumber
- 1 cup of grated Carrot
- 1 cup of Small chopped Onion
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Salt
- ½ tbsp Turmeric powder
- 1-2 tbsp Red chili powder as per taste
- 4-5 Chopped Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp Chopped Green chilies
- 1 tbsp Oil
Instructions
- Take a deep vessel or a saucepan add 1 cup of water and boil the water.
- On a wide plate add 1 cup of Jowar flour.
- Add 2 tbsp Besan flour
- Add 1 cup of grated Cucumber and Carrot separately.
- Next, add 1 cup of Small chopped Onion
- Add 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- Add 1 tbsp Salt
- Then, add ½ tbsp Turmeric powder
- Add 1-2 tbsp Red chili powder, as per taste
- Add 4-5 Chopped Curry leaves
- Next, add 2 tbsp Chopped Green chilies
- Add 1 tbsp Oil
- Mix all the ingredients using hands
- Make a hole in between the flour mix and start adding hot water gradually
- Mix everything with a spoon.
- Once you add 1 cup of hot water, mix it using the spoon and let it cool for 2 minutes.
- Now, start kneading the dough using your hands. Be careful while kneading.
- Knead the dough well until it holds a structure.
- Takes parchment paper add 1 tbsp oil and grease the paper
- Place a Tawa on the stove add 1 tbsp oil, start heating it.
- Take a ball-sized Dough and start making rotis by patting gently using hands.
- Make it into a thin and round roti
- Or Place a thin butter paper on the dough, start rolling it using the pin and make it into a roti.
- Now, put the roti onto the Tawa
- Once one side of the roti is cooked well, flip it onto another side and cook.
- When roti is completely cooked on both sides, take it off from the Tawa
- Now the yummy and healthy Jowar masala roti is ready.
