Do you know, I always order Rice and rasam whenever I visit any hotel during noon. It feels so fulfilling and I feel so happy and calm from the inside out…
Rice and rasam is such an easy and tasty dish that has a soothing effect. My mom used to prepare rasam whenever I had a cold. And Magically I used to feel better…Now, I prepare it at home most of the time.
In today’s, blog I will share my favorite Tomato rasam recipes…Let’s begin…

Tomato rasam
Ingredients
- 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes
- 2 tbsp Coriander leaves
- 4-5 curry leaves
- 2-3 green chilies
- ½ inch chopped ginger
- 1 pinch of Hing
- 1 cup water
- ¼ tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 cup cooked dal
- 1 tbsp salt as per taste
- 1 tbsp jaggery water
- 2 tbsp oil to it.
- 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 3-4 dry red chilies
- 1 pinch Hing to it.
- 4-5 curry leaves
Instructions
- Heat a pan on a medium flame.
- Add 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes
- Add 2 tbsp Coriander leaves
- Add 4-5 curry leaves
- Then, add 2-3 green chilies
- Add ½ inch chopped ginger
- Add 1 pinch of Hing
- Now add, 1 cup water
- Add ¼ tbsp turmeric powder
- Saute well and close the lid.
- Bring it to boil
- Smash the tomatoes using the spatula
- Next, add 1 cup cooked dal and mix.
- Add 1 tbsp salt as per taste
- And add 1 tbsp jaggery water and saute.
- Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes.
- Now, take a pan and heat it on low flame.
- Add 2 tbsp oil to it.
- Add 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
- Add 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- Next, add 3-4 dry red chilies
- Add 1 pinch Hing to it.
- Next, add 4-5 curry leaves and toss them.
- Finally, add this tadka to the rasam.
- Finally, squeeze the halt lemon into the rasam and give a good mix.
- Now the tasty Tomato lemon rasam is ready to savor.
Instructions with Images
Heat a pan on a medium flame.

Add 2 tbsp Coriander leaves
And add 4-5 curry leaves
Then, add 2-3 green chilies
Add ½ inch chopped ginger
Add 1 pinch of Hing
Now add, 1 cup water
Add ¼ tbsp turmeric powder
Saute well and close the lid.
Bring it to boil
Smash the tomatoes using the spatula
Next, add 1 cup cooked dal and mix.
Add 1 tbsp salt as per taste
And add 1 tbsp jaggery water and saute.
Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes.
Now, take a pan and heat it on low flame.
Add 2 tbsp oil to it.
Add 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
And add 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
Next, add 3-4 dry red chilies
Add 1 pinch Hing to it.
Next, add 4-5 curry leaves and toss them.
Then, add this tadka to the rasam.
Lastly, squeeze the halt lemon into the rasam and give a good mix.
Now the tasty Tomato lemon rasam is ready to savor.
